At Lake Meadow you will be riding horses that 'Ma' rehabbed, trained and competed in distance events with. Many are still her current competitive partners! All of the Private trail lessons are still personally guided by 'Ma' - so you can learn about each of their rehabs, training and competition records. With the Weekend Group lessons guided by another highly experienced 'Gen Xer' Instructor, Yolanda.
Each horse in our small herd is a true member of our family, and wil live out their three decades of life with us and our closest friends. We are true stewards of the land and will never allow our herd and business to grow larger than it can support. So we'll forever remain a small stable where the happiness, health and longevity of every horse is our top priority!

Are you interested in talking your significant other into buying a golfcart or ATV side-by-side? Learn about them from an owner - not a dealer! Pa will teach you both the good and bad about the wheeled recreational vehicle you are interested in. This way, you have the knowledge you'll need when haggling with the dealer's salesman! 'Pa' is now offering two different wheeled educational tours on the Weekends. On both of them, 'Pa' will drive next to your horseback riding buddies for the first 1/4 mile so that you can take pics/videos of each other.

If you need to cancel your scheduled ride, we have a 12 hour cancellation policy. Just leave a message or text us the day before, and there is no charge. However, if you just don't show up, you will be charged as those horses were reserved for you.
Weather events: If there are severe thunderstorm/tornado watches in effect during the scheduled times - the farm does a shutdown for safety. All clients will be called that morning and no one is charged.
If there is Extreme heat in excessive of 95 degrees forecasted - the farm starts shutdowns at 2pm. This is before the heat index rises to our maximum allowed which usually occurs from 3pm-5pm. This is for the health of our horses and staff. All clients who've made late afternoon reservations will be called to reschedule.
Light rain or short pop up storms - we ride in nice drizzly 'Seattle Weather'. If there are short duration pop up afternoon storms, we have built in rest time in the schedule that can be used for 'Baseball Style Rain Delays'. Therefore, we do not cancel or close for our standard summer pop up storms.
Absolutely NOT! Saddles are NOT manufactured to properly distribute the weight of more than a SINGLE rider. ANY stable that allows this is likely uninsured and not following professionally accepted safety standards. So we advise you to avoid these types of Stables. Instead, take your baby/toddler to a fully INSURED pony ride business.
Riders must be a minimum of 5 years old to go on the trail lessons
Riders 3-4 years old can be given leadline lessons in our corral
Yes, helmets are mandatory! You may bring your own - or use one of ours
We encourage our clients to take as many pics and videos as they want. We can assure you that your Guide rider will also be taking plenty of single and group pics if you wish while on the trail. We share these on our FaceBook page so that you can enjoy them!
Every saddle has two deep, big pockets for you to carry your bottled drinks, snacks and cell phones in. We encourage bringing refreshments on any ride that is 2 hours or longer.
Have no fear! We have a mounting platform to get on and off our tall horses! Our horses are all smoothly gaited - so there will be no bouncing at ALL! The perfect ride for those of us with knee, hip and back issues.
As long as you can walk up/down 4 steps with handrails unaided - you can ride! Unfortunately, we do not have a lift for those who are unable to walk.
For those with sight and mobility issues - all of our horses are trained to be safely ponied by our highly experienced Instructors. This allows those adults who don't have the ability to steer their mounts to still safely enjoy a long trail ride with their friends.
For those with intellectual challenges who have aged/grown out of therapy programs, 'Ma' was an inclusion teacher in the public schools for over ten years. She has the training to work with high functioning autistic teens/adults who are ready to take the reins and truly learn to ride independantly. We do recommend weekday private lessons to ensure one-on-one instruction.
The short answer is NO. There are three reasons for this:
1. Our horses can gait up to 18mph - so there is no need to ever gallop.
2. Gaiting is low impact on the horses joints (like speedwalking) while galloping is high impact (like you sprinting while carrying an 80lb back pack).
3. As we are focused on the health and longevity of our horses - we will NOT allow them to be worn out on a daily basis by galloping with bouncing riders! Again, imagine trying to run with an 80lb backpack on for a dozen miles EVERY day. What would happen to YOUR body???? especially during those hot, 95*, humid sommer days?
There ARE other stables that allow this, but there's a reason they have a high turnover rate in their horses every year - while our horses stay the same for decades....
If you are an experienced rider who desires to practice posting the trot, we do have ONE horse who trots. Request to ride Oreo the Saddlebred and enjoy posting the trot while the rest of your group enjoys the smooth glide of the Tennessee Walking Horse Runwalk gait!
Note: If you just googled the term 'posting the trot' - you are not experienced enough to post it. Never fear! Just sign up for a private arena lesson and our head trainer will have you posting on the proper diagnals in no time!!
